We Built an AI Platform for Destination Marketing. Here’s Why.

Swix AI - We're Live

I wasn’t planning to build an AI company.

For 16 years, I’ve worked alongside destination marketing organizations. As a partner, a consultant, a podcast host with over 200 episodes, and honestly as someone who just really likes this industry and the people in it. I’ve seen how these teams operate up close. The creativity, the hustle, the ability to do remarkable work with limited resources.

But I’ve also seen the other side. The parts that don’t make it into the annual report.

The content request that turns into a two-week email chain. The RFP response rebuilt from scratch because the last version is buried in someone’s Google Drive.

The board report that requires three people and four days to pull together. The brand guidelines that exist somewhere, probably in a folder no one’s opened since the last staff turnover. And then someone leaves, and half of what they knew about how things work walks out the door with them.

I kept thinking: this is where AI should be helping. Not replacing the creative work. Handling the slow, repetitive, manual work that bogs teams down before anything ever goes live.

When I looked at what was available, I found a lot of tools that were either too generic to understand how DMOs actually work, or too technical for a real team to adopt without a developer on staff.

So we built something different.

Today, we’re officially launching Swix AI. It’s an AI automation and agent platform built specifically for destination marketing organizations.

The Foundation: Your Knowledge, Connected

Before we built anything else, we built the knowledge base.

Here’s why. Every AI tool on the market gives you a generic assistant that knows a little about everything and nothing about your destination. It doesn’t know your brand voice, your venue specs, your strategic plan, or your partner database. So you end up copying and pasting context into every conversation, every time.

With Swix AI, you upload your actual documents. Visitor guides, media kits, strategic plans, brand guidelines, partner information, board materials. From that moment on, every AI feature on the platform draws from your content. Your AI Teammates speak in your brand voice because they’ve read your brand guidelines. Your RFP responses pull from your actual venue specs because those specs live in the knowledge base.

And here’s the part that might matter most: that knowledge base becomes your organization’s institutional memory. When someone leaves, their knowledge doesn’t leave with them. When a new hire starts, they can ask questions grounded in your organization’s real information from day one.

We’ve heard from too many DMO leaders that onboarding takes months because so much knowledge lives in people’s heads. We built this to change that.

What We Built and Why

Swix AI brings together several capabilities that DMOs have been trying to piece together from different places.

AI Teammates modeled after real DMO roles

Marketing, event promotion, stakeholder communications, visitor services, content strategy, creative direction. Each one follows your instructions, speaks in your brand voice, and produces work grounded in your actual documents. Use the ones we’ve built, or create your own for roles specific to your organization.

These aren’t generic chatbots. They’re configured specialists that understand DMO workflows.

Automation that grows with your team

Some tasks need a one-click solution that saves 20 minutes. Some need a guided multi-step process. Some need logic that adapts as it goes.

We built a progression that lets teams start with the simple stuff and grow into advanced automation as they get comfortable. No need to switch platforms, and no technical background required.

Your choice of AI models

Access Claude, GPT, Gemini, and 20+ other leading models. Different tasks benefit from different models, and you shouldn’t have to maintain separate subscriptions to five different AI tools. Pick the best model for each task, all in one place, for your whole team.

Not sure which model to use? We can help with that too. The benefit is that you aren’t locked into one model only to feel stuck if something better comes along.

Team workspaces with real organizational controls

Roles, permissions, visibility, usage tracking, analytics. Built for organizations that need to know who’s using what and keep things organized across departments.

Built-in connections to the tools you already use

Your team lives in Gmail, Outlook, Canva, Monday, Teams, and dozens of other apps every day. Swix AI connects to hundreds of them. One click to authenticate, and your AI Teammates, chat, and automated workflows can pull from and push to the tools your team already depends on.

No more copying and pasting between platforms or manually moving information from one place to another.

What This Looks Like in Practice

I don’t want to just list features. Here’s what it actually means for a team.

The board report that used to take three people and four days to pull together? Your AI Teammate drafts it in minutes, grounded in your actual performance data and strategic plan.

The RFP response you used to rebuild from scratch every quarter? It’s an automated workflow now. Feed in the RFP requirements, and the platform pulls from your venue specs, case studies, and past responses to build a draft your team can review and refine.

The crisis communications package you used to scramble to create under pressure? Built on demand. Holding statement, stakeholder updates, social responses, talking points. Ready for your team to review and approve.

The new hire who needs three months to get up to speed? They can ask the AI questions grounded in your institutional knowledge from day one.

That’s the kind of time we’re talking about giving back.

Who This Is For

Swix AI was built for the DMO team that’s been asked to do more with the same budget. The marketer who’s curious about AI but hasn’t found something that fits. The director who needs their team moving faster without introducing more complexity.

If you’ve never used AI automation before, that’s fine. That’s who we built this for. No technical background required. Humans stay in control of everything.

And if you’re already using AI tools but frustrated by the fragmentation — one tool for chat, another for content, another for workflows, a spreadsheet to track it all — this brings it into one place for your whole team, connected to the apps you already use every day.

Security

I know this matters for organizations that handle partner data and strategic documents. So here’s the short version.

Your data is never used to train AI models. Every organization is completely isolated — your AI Teammates only access your organization’s knowledge bases and documents, never anyone else’s. Everything is encrypted at rest and in transit. You control access with granular, role-based permissions. And when a client leaves, all their data is permanently deleted.

Your IT team may want the details. We’re happy to share our full security documentation.

The Honest Part

I’ll admit, putting this out there is nerve-wracking. Building a platform is one thing. Telling the world about it is another.

But here’s what keeps me going: I’ve seen what happens when a small DMO team gets access to the right tools.

They move faster. They produce better work. They stop spending half their week on things that should take minutes. And they actually enjoy the work more because they’re spending time on the creative, strategic stuff they got into this industry to do.

That’s what this is about. Not replacing anyone. Giving teams back their time.

What’s Next

We’ve signed our first pilot partners and we’re just getting started. What we’re building next is going to change what’s possible for destination organizations.

We’re opening a limited number of introductory walkthroughs for destination organizations. No sales decks. No pressure. Just a straightforward look at the platform and whether it fits how your team works.

If any of this resonated, I’d genuinely love to hear from you. What’s the biggest time sink on your team right now? What’s the one process you wish you could fix?
